Why should I roll my bat?

The bats made today are not as hot as the bats made only 1 year ago.For example a bat made last year may have an exit speed (the speed of the ball leaving the bat) of 98 mph right out of the wrapper and in 3-6 months when the bat is fully broken in may have an exit speed of 104 mph.Today, the bats are being made with an exit speed of 92 mph right out of the wrapper and in 3-6 months it will be up to the maximum 98 mph. Aluminum bats gain on average 10-20 feet of distance as compared to 20-40 feet with composite. This is the same thing that happens as you take hours of batting practice or put game hits on your bat. This causes the fibers/aluminum to become more flexible which greatly improves the bat's trampoline effect. This trampoline effect is what produces the batted ball speed and distance. Following BAT ROLLING the typical distance increases range from 20-40ft and It will also widen the sweet spot of the bat which will make you a more consistent hitter.What is Bat Rolling?

Bat Rolling is a process that accelerates the break-in of any composite Baseball or Softball Bat. Bat Rolling is accomplished via the use of a Bat Rolling Machine. These machines compress the barrel of the bat in various stages. As the bat is compressed it is fed through (Perpendicular method) or rotated (Parallel method) along the barrel. As the bat is rolled the resin material the binds the layers of composite material begins break-in. This happens in every composite bat from normal use. The problem is most bats require at least 500 hits before they really start to perform. By rolling your bat with a bat rolling machine you accomplish this in a control environment. This ensures your bat is broken in evenly and is performing at its optimal level.
